Our alarm went off at 4.30am. Devendra met us at 5, and we walked together to the tourist bus park.
The time in Pokhara seems to have disappeared with only our hotel bill to remind us we have been here a while, and suddenly we are off trekking tomorrow! Typically, the sun has been shining most of the time we have been here, but the last few days it has started to be a bit wetter and the heavens have opened tonight... hopefully it will rain itself out and be beautiful tomorrow.
Pokhara is a very nice, relaxing place to spend time and we have enjoyed cycling around and exploring a little bit as well as just relaxing with a drink looking out over the lake.
After a pleasant but fairly uneventful day where Drew was tied up with tech support (it's amazing that despite Pokhara being slightly less well connected to the internet than Kathmandu, it is still possible to sit here and fix computers back in the UK remotely!), today we resolved to abstain from the laptop and do some sight-seeing.
We rented bikes for the princely sum of 100 rupees (less than £1) each for the day. You get what you pay for though; on Drew's bike the bell and a pedal both fell off as he was riding – one probably more mission-critical than the other!
Well, we managed two days without coffee and cakes to take a trip to Gorkha and are now safely back to all these indulgences in Pokhara.
This post is just to provide a home for some pictures of silly signs, shop fronts which have amused us, and a couple which are a bit more sinister.
